GDA

Gloucestershire Drama Association

Registered Charity 1011080.

This is the home page of the GDA - the Gloucestershire Drama Association. The GDA exists to promote all aspects of amateur theatre throughout Gloucestershire and to provide a network of contacts, advice and resources to the dramatic societies and clubs that constitute its membership.

Specifically the GDA seeks to:

·               encourage the establishment and development of new drama societies and to facilitate maximum co-operation between existing societies.

·               stimulate the writing and performance of new plays.

·               promote and encourage activities within the county, which will result in the continued high standard of the exposition of the dramatic arts.

·               co-operate and collaborate with voluntary bodies and statutory authorities operating in similar charitable fields in the county and to encourage the sharing of information and advice.

To join the GDA, please complete an application form and return it, along with the annual subscription of £25 – or £15 for societies with less than 15 members - to the GDA treasurer, Jack Burgess.

 GDA Competitions

Each year the GDA sponsors a Full Length Play Competition – play, musical and pantomime – with adjudications throughout the year of full length productions performed by member societies, and presentation of annual awards. For details of last year’s winners click here.  The GDA also organises an annual One Act Play Festival at the King’s Theatre, Gloucester.  For details of this years competitions click here. Finally, to promote new plays by new authors, the GDA sponsors an annual One Act Play Writing Competition, for which application forms are now available.
