a) The competition will be run under the
auspices of the Gloucestershire Drama Association (GDA) and the GDA
Executive Committee shall be the sole arbiter of the rules.
b) There will be one category only.
c) The winning author will receive a
prize of £100, a certificate and a trophy, and will have the opportunity, if
they so wish, to have their play added to the Catalogue of Plays published by
New Theatre Publications. Two runners-up will each receive a prize of £50 plus
a certificate. There is no entry fee for
the competition, but a fee of £20 is payable for a written adjudication, of
required.
a) Competitors must be full-time
residents of Gloucestershire at the
time of the submission of the play.
b) The author’s prime source of income
must not be derived as a playwright.
c) Members, or ex-officio members, of the
Executive Committee of the GDA are excluded from entering the competition.
a) The performance time shall be not less
than twenty and not more than fifty minutes.
b) The play submitted must not have been
previously accepted for publication, and must not have been written prior to
March 2005.
c) The play must be the original work of
the author, and must not have been performed to a paying audience prior to the
closing date of the competition.
d) The play must be suitable for
performance on stage.
e) The play must have a minimum of two
speaking parts.
f) The GDA reserves the right for member
societies to perform the winning play, free of royalties and at their
discretion, for a period of one year from June 2008.
a) Three copies of the play must be
submitted in typewritten script. To ensure anonymity of authors to the judging
panel, the author’s name must not be put on any of the copies of the script.
They must be accompanied by a completed entry form.
b) The scripts and entry form, must be
submitted to Mrs J Sculfor,
3, Cossack Court, Cossack Square, Nailsworth, GL6 0DG
by 28th March 2008.
a) The competition will be judged by a
panel approved by the Executive Committee of the GDA.
b) The panel’s decision will be final,
and no correspondence will be entered into.
c) The winning plays will be announced in
June 2008. Details of how and where the
presentations will take place will be notified to all entrants at a later date.
d) Written adjudications will be
provided, after the announcement of the winners has been made, should the
authors wish to have them. A fee of £20
will be charged for this, which must be sent with the entry form.
e) The panel reserves the right to withhold the awards if it is considered that the desired standard has not been attained.
The Gloucestershire Drama
Association cannot accept responsibility for the loss of, damage to, or delay
in receipt of scripts. Authors are
advised to use recorded delivery or registered mail. Scripts will be returned to authors who
enclose an appropriately stamped addressed envelope. Authors are strongly advised to retain a copy
of their script.
