Competitions 
One Act Play Writing Competition
To promote new plays by new authors,
the GDA sponsors an annual One Act Play Writing Competition. The winning author
will receive a prize of £100, a certificate and a trophy. The two runners up
will each receive a prize of £50 and a certificate.
The application form and details of the rules for the 2008 competition are now available.

Full Length Play Competition
Each year the GDA sponsors a Full
Length Play Competition – play, musical and pantomime – with adjudications
throughout the year of full length productions performed by member societies,
and presentation of annual awards.

Winners
One Act Play Festival
The 2009 Festival,
running from from 20th – 27th July,
was updated to an open competition with
a new junior section and awards of £1000 for the Best Play, £400 for First
Runner Up, trophies for best Original Play, Best Director, Best Actor, Best
Actress, plus runner up trophies in each section.
In the junior section, the winners receive an offer of a Scholarship for
Best Male and Best Female, as well as trophies provided by the Chairman of
Gloucester City Council. The results were announced and awards
presented at a GALA EVENING on Sunday 13th September at the KINGS
THEATRE.
